A Girls' Trip on the New England Coast: Celebrating Birthdays and Making Memories

As a travel agent, there's nothing I enjoy more than traveling to new destinations with my loved ones. To celebrate my 44th birthday and my cousin Marla's 60th, we planned a trip with two other cousins to visit the stunning New England coast. Our journey began in Boston, where we spent a day immersed in the town's rich history, savoring delectable seafood, and browsing local shops.

After spending the night in Boston, we hopped in our rental car and took the scenic route to Portland, making stops at various restaurants to sample their renowned lobster rolls and admire picturesque lighthouses. The breathtaking views of the coast along the drive were truly unforgettable.

Stunning Views Along the Coast

In Portland, we embarked on an "Apps and Traps" sailing adventure, where we learned how to pull up oyster traps, shuck them, and savor their delicious, ice-cold flavor straight from the sea. We also enjoyed cocktails and amazing food as we continued along the coast.

The next stop on our itinerary was Newport, which quickly became my personal favorite. We stayed at the Bouchard Inn, where I indulged in one too many delicious espresso martinis at their street-side bar. We explored the town's rich history, touring mansions and sipping cocktails on the water.

Newport was once the preferred summer destination for America's wealthiest individuals, with a vibrant old-world charm that still resonates today. We visited the Vanderbilt's summer "cottage," The Breakers and Rosecliff Mansion, where silver heiress Theresa Fair Oelrichs held her famed parties. I couldn't help but imagine how incredible it would have been to attend those lavish social gatherings while spending my summers in Newport!

Throughout the trip, we laughed until we cried, made countless memories, and celebrated our birthdays in style. If you're looking for your next girls' trip, I highly recommend embarking on a New England coastal adventure. Let me help you plan your perfect getaway today!
